TASTE OF BENGAL (Take-Away only), 96 SEA STREET This take-away on the outskirts of Herne Bay opened at the beginning of 1998. It has a pleasant clean appearance which is enhanced by a small, smart sparkling van for home deliveries parked outside with the name of the restaurant emblazoned on it. Something not many take-aways have. One large window looks into the waiting area, while the other allows the onlooker to see into the kitchen where, once again, everything looked clean and tidy. The better than average quality menus contain all the usuals plus some less common specials. Initial impressions, therefore, are very favourable and encouraged me in for a take-away rather than return home to my usual restaurant. All dishes were a good standard Bangladeshi formula curry The Pathia was hot and spicy with a nice lentilly sauce and the Mixed Vegetable Bhaji had a good selection of vegetables, well cooked and tastily spiced. Tarka Dall also very good. Good sized portions and prices about average. Service at the reception counter was friendly and it proved a good decision to try it out and well worth carrying my take away some 45 miles home! Malcolm Wilkins - 2005 |
