RAJ, 31 HIGH STREET

Seats 46 in a square shaped dining area, which gives plenty of room in the centre of the room. Pleasant but fairly standard high street curry house decor and furnishings, as is the menu which lists all the usuals.

We had a very pleasant if unremarkable meal - all dishes good formula stuff. Vegetable dishes marginally better than average, particularly the Aloo Gobi which had a good balance between potato and cauliflower (ie not predominantly potato with a couple of cauliflower florets thrown in as is sometimes the case) and lightly cooked leaving a good texture of the vegetables.

Service also pleasant and efficient, portions quite sufficient and prices about average.

Surprisingly few table taken for a Saturday evening (only three tables taken at 8.30 pm, so not much trouble with reservations here), but a constant flow of take-away customers.

All in all a good standard high street formula curry house.
