PALACE OF INDIA, HIGH STREET

This small restaurant seating about 30 was established in 1990. Decor and furnishings comfortable enough, but although cosy it can be a bit cramped when full (as it always is on Saturday night, and probably other nights as well), particularly the two tables near the serving area which looked very tight for space.

I've eaten there about three times before this visit and its always been a good formula curry (although on the last occasion I recall it being very oily and having to skim oil from the surface, something I reported should have been done in the kitchen first for a better presentation). Perhaps they heeded the advice as this time it was back to normal. My Chicken Tikka Dhansak was excellent (surprisingly a little hotter than the Pathia), as were the other dishes, and all the dishes I've had have been good high street curry house standard. A nice restaurant for food, but it's better mid-week when less crowded.

Service neither friendly or unfriendly, but functional and efficient. Portions quite adequate and average prices.
