THE MALMESBURY TANDOORI (Take-Away only), 49 HIGH STREET A nice little take away in a nice little town. It is a well established curry provider for the surrounding area and is popular, with many customers driving in from the outlying villages for their fix of curry. For many years the sole source of Indian food in the vicinity before competition reared its head in the summer of 1998 in the form of Rajah, a ‘sit down’ Indian restaurant and take-away. I visit a friend nearby two or three times a year and we always get a good standard of formula curry here. Dhansak and Madras dishes are always hot and spicy and this time I had Chicken Pathia which was also nicely hot with plenty of flavour in the usual dark, rich thick sauce. Mixed Dry Vegetable curry had a good selection of vegetables and the Cauliflower Bhaji was also very good. Portions large, especially the rice (one portion suffices for two) and it is all reasonably priced. Very friendly service and the manager seems to know all his customers, frequently popping his head out of the kitchen for a friendly word. I don’t think the competition will affect them too much! Malcolm Wilkins - June 1998
