JAIPUR, 35 ST. PIRANS ROAD

Centrally situated in the main street When I first saw it in 2004  it did not give the appearance of being particularly up-market as the lettering on the windows was inexpertly painted, the menu was printed on sheets of paper stuck to the window by bluetack, and one side window was broken. However, on my recent visit in 2008 it had smartened up a bit - in fact the menu describes it as 'Cornwall's most luxurious restaurant', (I note that it doesn't restrict its self-proclaimed accolade to Indian restaurants) which is patently absurd given a number of others I've been to within the county. Nevertheless, it did look more comfortable than last time, and cosier than the more modern competition (Massala down the road). In view of this I was intending to eat there, but in the event I did not do so as at 8pm on a Saturday night there were two people there, whereas the Massala was absolutely packed. I felt that this had to be indicative of something, so I went to the Massala. Thus I can't comment personally on the food.
