GILLINGHAM CURRY SCENE Gillingham is a rather sprawling conurbation between Chatham and Rainham, and probably has more Indian restaurants than I have discovered. However, in the town centre there is the very good Spice Court in Balmoral Road almost immediatialy opposite the railway station, but the main centre for Indian restaurants seems to be Canterbury Street. There are three within a hundred yards. Firstly there is Shipa Tandoori at number 113, possibly the first in Gillingham being established in 1982. Just a few doors away at number 101-103 is the much larger looking New East Indian Tandoori, while a little further down at number 55 is the much smaller Alisha. There may, of course, be others in the town area, and hopefully someone will tell me if there is.Perhaps the other one worth a mention is in the suburb of Twydall near the border with Rainham. The Twydall Tandoori (named with great imagination!) is relatively new and I've heard good reports. However, a visit is yet to come and as at present I've only been to two - both reported on.
