CURRY SCENE

Surprisingly there is very little to report on in St Austell, and the only reason I have included a 'Curry Scene' section under this town is in the hope it saves people hunting for non-existent Indian restaurants! In fact there are none in the centre of St Austell itself - only a take-away called Chadni in High Cross Street, and that only opened in the summer 2002 (note it is closed on Tuesday).

The original Indian restaurant in the St Austell area is the Taj Mahal which is actually in Mount Charles - a suburb of St Austell too far from the town centre to walk. Not the first in Cornwall but one of the originals, and a separate report is provided.

The other is Eastern Paradise, opened in 1996 near Carlyon Bay and even further from the town. Again a separate report is provided.

What with the expansion of Indian restaurants in Cornwall in recent years I'm surprised one hasn't opened in the town itself. Perhaps  next time I'm down one someone will have. Watch this space.
