This relatively small town has the benefit of two Indian restaurants right opposite each other plus another a few miles away in the village of Shardlow.

My local informant told me that the original Indian restaurant was in Borough Street and called Tandoori Nights. However, this closed and after a refurbishment re-opened in 1997 as Pakeeza. The Tandoori Nights restaurant moved to the nearby village of Shardlow.

Another Indian restaurant has since opened right opposite Pakeeza, this one being called Spices. The menus of both looked fairly standard high street curry house restaurants although I was told the Pakeeza offers Pakistani style curries. Only able to eat in one, I chose Pakeeza.
