CURRY SCENE

As far as I could see there were only three Indian restaurants in King’s Lynn City centre. Two of then are in Railway Road. At number 61 is Raaz although this used to be called Ishalimar Balti Cuisine until relatively recently. It looked a fairly standard high street curry house and whether it was just a name change or change of ownership I was unable to find out.

On the opposite side of the road at number 24 is the Bombay Brasserie which, at the time of my visit was undergoing a complete redecoration. The owner told me they were open for business and said how much smarter the redecoration made the place look. I’m sure he was right although I didn’t know what it looked like before. However, only half had been done and the place reeked of new paint so I decided to give it a miss on this occasion. Smells of paint with my pillau I can do with out! It looked a medium sized, standard high street curry house and I’m sure it will be OK once it’s finished.

The third is The India Gate situated in St. James Street which, from the outside looked slightly smarter than the other two. As it was there nearest to where I was staying this got my custom for the evening (although nearly lost it - see report!)
