When I visited in the summer of 1999 Shaftesbury had only one Indian restaurant - the Raj of India - which at that time had been established for 13 years. I am told that this was refurbished, and has changed its name to Chutneys. There was also had a take away (Shapla) in town.. Whether the town is big enough for further competition only time will tell, but from my experience of the restaurant, it wouldn’t be a bad thing.
