CURRY SCENE London has thousands of Indian restaurants - about 20% of the UK total. These range from top class establishments like Chutney Mary’s or the Bombay Brasserie in up- market Chelsea and Kensington, to more basic but still delicious establishments such as Lahore Kebab House or Anwar’s off the less fashionable Commercial Road and Euston Road respectively. Clearly too many to even attempt to provide reports so I have restricted reports to those restaurants in Central London which are at the less expensive but, in my view, provide good flavour and good value Indian food. (As a point of interest, my favourite for an inexpensive, excellent authentic meal is the Mandalay, the only Burmese restaurant in the UK (as far as I know!) Malcolm Wilkins - January 2005 |
