BLUE GINGER, 7 THE PARADE, VALLEY DRIVE, GRAVESEND (TAKE-AWAY)

Opening in May 2009, this take-away looks to be under the same ownership (or at least family links) to most of the others in Gravesend (Gandhi, Tuffail, Cafe Taj, Nazia etc) judging by the menu and descriptions of dishes, which are common to all. This group of restaurants is certainly expanding to take the lion's share of the Indian restaurant market.

I sampled their food, and while it was good it was the usual formula curry high street Bangladeshi fare. The Tandoori Chicken was fine (although the pieces perhaps not quite so big as I've had elsewhere), the Chicken Tikka Pathia nice and spicy, the main course size Sabzi Methi was very pleasant, although it was difficult to distinguish it from a Mixed Vegetable Curry as there was little definitive flavour of fenugreek (which was a shame as I like the flavour fenugreek brings to a dish), and the Tarka Dall was nicely spiced with garlic.

Portions generous, prices average, and delivery was on time.

All in all a good, if pretty standard, Indian take-away.
