BHOJAN (Take Away), 3 HAWLEY ROAD

This take-away has been on the site for a good number of years, but it changed ownership some four months ago (approx March 2002). The new owners tell me they are not connected with any other restaurant.

A standard waiting area but with a bowl of Bombay mix on the counter. A well produced menu contains a comprehensive list of all the usuals. The food on this fist visit made a good impression. The Chicken Jal-Frezi (sic) was hot and spicy and the chillis properly cooked in the curry rather than, as so often seems to happen, just thrown in afterwards. The Vegetable Bhajee was fresh and nicely cooked (not overdone or mushy) and the Tarka Dall had a pleasant garlic and spice taste.

I noted a steady stream of customers which is a good sign, and a good start for the new owners. Formula curry it may be but competently done and I would have no hesitation about returning if I was in the area.
