CurryHouse Reviews

Welcome to Curryhouse-Reviews

As one of the principal reporters for the Curry Club and the Good Curry Guide I have written numerous reports on Indian restaurants over the years. Inevitably these reports were heavily edited, or not published at all, so the purpose of this website is to make available the complete reports, which I hope will be of interest to curry lovers.

The reports offer an unbiased and comprehensive view. The majority are for restaurants in Kent and Cornwall - an odd combination I know. However, I have included reports on restaurants in all towns  I have visited since I began reporting. I have also tried to provide a profile of the curry scene in many of those towns as a guide for potential visitors.  They are listed in county then town order so it's easy to find what you are looking for. With the exception of some of my favourite restaurants in Central London, I have not included the major cities as there are too many, and you can hardly go wrong in finding a decent Indian restaurant.

But don't get too excited! With some 9000 Indian restaurants in the country this site can only cover a tiny fraction of them. At present the contents of the site are largely my own reports, although it would be useful to expand by including reports from any similarly enthusiastic and dedicated reporters who have a good background experience in curry and who might be interested in contributing.

I realise that these reports become dated over time, and we all know that restaurants change - they change ownership, kitchen staff etc - and the food can even change from day to day if it's the chef's day off.  A disadvantage of running a one-man site is that I can't revisit as often as I would like - particularly those distant from where I live - so it's possible things may have changed since my report was written. However, although a number of reports are quite old, unless I hear of a change of ownership, chef etc., then I keep them, as they are probably still relevant. Therefore it is quite possible that the report bears no relation to your experience. Perhaps it doesn't, but all I can do is report as it was at the time.

Finally, this website is done as a labour of love for the benefit of fellow curryholics. As such, I am always interested to receive any comment, and if you would like to provide me with an update on any town (i.e. additions, closures or even a comprehensive overview of what's available in a town) then I would be delighted to hear from you and update the website accordingly.

Thanks for logging on, and good currying
